Have you ever heard of the High Times Cannabis Cup? It is the world’s leading cannabis festival and the biggest marijuana trade show. It was founded by Steven Hager, editor of the High Times magazine, who came to Holland to interview a founder of the first Dutch cannabis-trade company. Started in 1988, festival is organized every November in Amsterdam, Holland and in some states where recreational and medical marijuana is legalized. Expanding and growing strong for almost three decades, Cannabis Cup gained trust of the publicity and have become the most established event in the marijuana industry. The main goal of the festival is to fight for the right to use marijuana and to gain some political legitimacy. Ganja is celebrated there in many ways, for example through instructional seminars, competitions, concerts, expositions, product showcases and appearances of some well-known celebrities. Long story short: the Cannabis Cup provides a great place to celebrate marijuana and to build some kind of a network by cannabis community. What’s the most important thing though, High Times helps in finding new interesting strains. If you want to try something new, just look at the winners of Cannabis Cup. In this category we present some varieties that you have to try at least once in your lifetime!
During the event various strains are presented and marked. Every year there is a special group of judges which chooses the company that presented the best strain, the best new product and the best counter at the festival. Judges from all around the world are allowed to sample and vote for favorite marijuana kind. Overall winner is the Cannabis Cup, but there are also some other categories, like the best booth, the best hash, the best Neder hash, the best imported hash or even the best glass. There are also some VIP judges who decide which company has achieved the best sativa, indica and hybrid variety. At the festival both new and old strains are tested and breeders from different coffee shops present their own marijuana. All of the judges should stand a great dose of THC because of strong presence of tetrahydrocannabinol. Cannabis Cup includes also some seminars, expo, live music and much more attractions - that’s why many tourists join festival every year.
