Shiva Shanti II and its more powerful Indian sister, Shiva Shanti, are two varieties that went on sale in the early 1990s to commemorate the breeding stock that made the Sensi Seed Bank gene library its current global leadership position. The aim of the creators of Shiva Shanti II was to make a strain accessible to every grower and versatile in terms of the method of cultivation (indoors under artificial lighting, in a greenhouse or outdoors in sunny conditions existing in most countries below 45 parallel). The new variety was also supposed to ensure fast growth, resistance and vitality so that even the most inexperienced growers could enjoy a satisfactory harvest.
